Central Virginia Heroes On The Water, wants the experience in the outdoors to be the best possible one for each of its participants.

Event Date: July 16th 2011

Time: 3PM – 8PM

Location: Bear Creek Lake State Park Beach Area.

Dinner will be provided by the Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park for all the Heroes and the Volunteers of this event.

Heroes On The Water, is a non-profit organization that helps injured service members with their physical and mental recovery using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. Every HOW event across the country brings together wounded military personnel for guided kayak fishing excursions. Founded in 2007, HOW has served more than 3,000 veterans. The service is provided to the veterans for free. HOW is a non-profit educational organization under IRS Code Chapter 501(c)(3). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Central Virginia Chapter is a new chapter of this National Program, getting started this year. They have adopted the Hunter Holmes McGuire Hospital, and Wounded Warriors of VA, into their program taking members of both units out for absolutely free kayak fishing excursions. These excursions require specialized kayaks for some of the participants, and well as specialized equipment inside the kayaks to accommodate any and all of the challenges our Heroes may encounter. Central Virginia Heroes On The Water, wants the experience in the outdoors to be the best possible one for each of its participants. Our Team of volunteers and sponsors are committed to making it a laid back, fun and relaxing day on the water, you won’t want to miss.
