Intrigued by the skill of archery demonstrated by Katniss Everdeen in the movie the Hunger Games? Since ancient times, the bow and arrow has been one of human beings’ most important tools for survival and recreation.
You too can master archery by participating in a beginner level archery program offered at Bear Creek Lake State Park.
Children ages 8 and up enjoy the archery workshop offered at the park
On Saturday, April 14, 2012an archery workshop will give beginners a brief introduction to recurve and compound bows. You’ll also learn target shooting techniques andsafety.All equipment is provided.The workshop is age appropriate for ages 8 and up. The cost is $5/person. Family and group rates are available. More experienced archers will enjoy our ten station field target course, with new 3D targets this year. The 3D range is available all day, with a $5 use fee. The range design and layout is representative of ranges developed by the International Bow hunting Organization. The ten-lane range is a combination of excelsior bales and 3D targets.

Bear Creek Lake State Park is located about 4.5 miles northwest of the town of Cumberland. From U.S. Route 60, go west on Route 622 and south on Route 629 to the park entrance.
