As many of our state parks know, Friends are a wonderful thing! Especially the Citizens Support Organizations that sometimes form “Friends of Groups.” I have the privilege of working with these groups as part of my job. Interacting with the volunteers is one of the best things about my work. Their willingness to give of themselves to support the parks is quite touching at times. The devotion and caring that goes into their volunteer job is amazing. These folks really care about their state parks.
Not all state parks are lucky enough to have Friends Groups for one reason or another. On February 26th we are going to try to amend that for Westmoreland State Park!
Invitation to the Community to support your State Park!
Westmoreland State Park staff will hold a Citizens Support Organizational meeting on February 26, 2011 4:00 p.m. at Helen and Tayloe Murphy Hall.
Refreshments will be served.
The purpose of the CSO is to help create a strong connection between the park and the community. This relationship benefits the citizens that not only visit the park but also those that have businesses and homes in the area.
