Fishing for the Kids and Clean the Bay Day is celebrated at Riders Up! Outfitters are sponsoring this angling event for youngsters. Workshops throughout the day include Fish Printing at 11 a.m., Critter Crawl at 1 p.m., Fishing FUNdamentals at 2 p.m., Clean the Bay Day at 3 p.m. and Kids’ Fishing at 4 p.m.
Clean the Bay Day events at Douthat promote stewardship of our watersheds and the Chesapeake Bay. Although Douthat is in the Allegheny Mountains hundreds of miles from the bay, the park is in the James River’s watershed so rainfall here eventually reaches the bay.
Enjoy Saturday evening listening to Glen Bryant demonstrating blacksmithing techniques on the shores of beautiful Douthat Lake from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday morning, June 7 a nondenominational worship service with the Rev. Dwight Ayers of Open Hearts Ministries will be held at the Amphitheater starting at 8 a.m.
