American Red Cross on October 29th from 11 am – 3 pm. But before the Red Cross will agree to come to the park we need 40 people to sign up to donate.
The blood collected at Leesylvania State Park will be used to save the lives of accident victims, cancer patients, people with sickle cell disease and many others. Those in need of blood transfusions can need anywhere from a single pint of blood up to 100 pints. Averaged out over time, within the U.S. alone, every two seconds someone needs a blood transfusion. To meet the need for blood transfusions the American Red Cross needs 38,000 people to donate blood everyday. With less than 38% of Americans eligible to give blood we need as many qualifying individuals to donate blood whenever they can.
You might be eligible to donate blood if you meet the following criteria:
-You must be at least 17 years old,
-You must weigh at least 110 pounds,
-You must be in good health.
