Kiptopeke State Park’s campground roadway is starting to take shape as crews started removing the tar and chip roadway yesterday. A nuisance and eye sore for campers over the years, its demise is welcomed news. Ditch work and site grading have been completed and the removal of the road and its base started yesterday. Once the original road base is removed, pavers will be installed at the front of each campsite addressing drainage issues along the roadway and the new road base prepared. Good weather is helping the crew’s efforts in completing this project by late May.
