Spring is nearing full bloom here at Odwalla Plant a Tree program, we are happy to be able to host an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 24 that will feature the planting of six native trees in our wonderful park.
The event will begin at 10 am with a presentation by park staff on the importance of trees and their impact on our quality of life. The generous efforts by Odwalla, known for their nourishing fruit beverages and healthy snack bars, will allow us to plant: three native White Pines to protect the view shed at Historic Martin’s Station; two Red Maples on the front lawn of the Karlan Mansion, replacing trees lost to storms and old age; and one Carolina Silverbell, which will greet visitors near the Visitor Center.

Over the course of the past year, we have really made it one of our top priorities to get the community more involved in our park and our programs. To assist with the planting of our new trees, two Scout groups from the community, Pack #239 and Pack #394, will join us for the Earth Day festivities. Our local newspaper, Powell Valley News, has agreed to cover the event, which will be followed by our popular Edible and Medicinal Plants program.
