The Friends of James River State Park (FoJRSP) actively participates in their mission: To act as a non-profit Citizens Support Organization to assist in conserving the natural, cultural, scenic and recreational resources of James River State Park; to assist in providing a variety of recreational and educational opportunities; and to assist in promoting environmental stewardship in one of Virginia’s most beautiful parks.
You can earn benefits for your volunteer work. For example, you can earn free passes, free camping, and free cabin use at all Virginia State Parks. The ultimate benefit you can earn is a lifetime entrance pass to all Virginia State Parks along with the satisfaction of contributing to a great local resource.
Two hours away from Richmond in Buckingham County you’ll find the popular James River State Park. James River State Park is named for its 3 mile riverfront on the beautiful James River. 1,500 acres, the park boasts rolling farm meadows, three fishing ponds, beautiful vistas, 15 miles of hiking trails and quiet forests. The park also features environmental programs, cabins, lodges, campgrounds, picnic shelters, concessions stand and gift shop. Join us for the annual James River Raft Race, Bluegrass Under The Stars, Fall Festival, Haunted Wagon Ride and much more!
Opportunities will continue to arise to support the park in a variety of ways. One of those ways is through the Friends group. Friends groups are non-profit organizations that are formed to support a local park through volunteerism, advocacy and fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in becoming involved with Friends of James River State Park, please call or e-mail and ask for information on joining and annual membership dues/donations. Dues and Donations are Tax Deductible.
