The Gnome Makes the Campsite Home
I rolled into the Belle Isle State Park campground near dusk for a series of meetings and got settled into the bunkhouse as it was getting dark. On my way back to thebathhouse in the twilight,I saw, at the campsite next to me, two eyes peering out from under a red hat—Elwood was in town!
Elwood is a gnome and he loves Virginia State Parks!
The brainchild of Keith and Sherri Christensen, Elwood gets his picture and antics posted on the family's Facebook page as a way of keeping everyone updated on this family's outdoor and RV travels. The grandkids love to read about Elwood's adventures.

Sherri shared with me a little bit about what Elwood said about Belle Isle State Park:
"The bathhouses are clean. The campsites are big and private. The late 3 p.m. check out time means you can get your laundry done in the laundry room before you head home."
Elwood likes camping so much that he wants Sherri and Keith to get at it full-time. He even offered to let them work in his garden if they quit their jobs. I think Elwood will make a great in a few years!
