Virginia State Parks is an award winning state park system. One thing that makes our parks so special is the staff at our parks. One such staff person is Harvey Thompson.
Thompson began his Virginia State Parks career in 1977 after graduating from Grayson Highlands State Park, Mouth of Wilson.
So, he and his wife, Maureen moved to the park closest to “heaven” with an elevation up to an average of 4,400 ft,.. Thompson plans to serve the remainder of his career at Grayson Highlands State Park. Thompson enjoys hiking, gardening, and the Southwest Virginia tradition of flat foot dancing. He loves spending time with family and helping friends.
Harvey and Maureen have two children. Levi is currently studying Arabic language and culture in Cairo, Egypt. And their daughter Meghan is studying Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University/MCV in Richmond.
