Molly’s Knob Trail is my favorite hike at Hungry Mother State Parkwith spectacular views, and one of the best scenic hikes in all of Virginia.
On a clear day views of Mount Rogers in the Highlands can be seen from the summit, but getting to the summit is not so easy for us novice hikers, but is very rewarding.
Molly's Knob Trail is classified as difficult on the Ridge Trail which is really where the incredible view comes in and also the most difficult trek to get to the top). Then you get to come all the way back down again, so double what I just said, and that is your roundtrip hiking distance.
Marion Virginia and easily accessible using Exit 47 from I-81. The park is just two hours south of Roanoke and 45 minutes north of Bristol Virginia.
There is nothing better than spending time outside in the fresh mountain air
When you reach the summit, the spectacular view at the top from Molly's Knob is worth the hike
Molly's Knob is a great morning hike before the heat of the day with magnificent views of the lake and mountains on the way up
It is quite a feat and this family proudly made it to the top
Taking the time to reflect and take it all in is a great reward and the icing on the cake
These sisters were happy they made it to the top
This father and daughter team hiked to the top
You can't beat the million dollar views you get for a $4 park fee
This is a great little lookout to stop and rest along the trail
