First Landing State Park is looking for 100 volunteers to help plant nearly 2,000 trees on April 16th for Tree Army Day!
The Tree Army project provides the community with volunteer opportunities to develop stewardship ethics through a forest ecology based program that speaks to conservation and biodiversity. This is also a great opportunity for individuals, families and community groups to participate as a volunteer and have a positive affect on our environment!
Seventy-five years ago in 1936, Virginia launched a state park system with six parks – Seashore (now First Landing) State Park was among them. To commemorate our 75th Anniversary, the Tree Army will plant 1,936 trees and we need your help! Please consider volunteering in the planting on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
Pre-register to volunteer during the tree planting event by calling 757-412-2320. You may also make a donation to the Tree Army projectby sponsoring a tree!
