Congratulations to all our Virginia State Parks staff for taking the time to participate in this activity!
Douthat staff win a pizza party for their efforts and of course all the glory from submitting the winning video!
We had two independent judges score the creativity and originality piece. Both are in the marketing profession, one works for a large marketing agency based in Richmond and the other is a marketing professional that works for a non-profit.
For the use of staff, volunteers, friends, customers and family in the video, I asked the district managers to rank the parks in their district. Because I had to decide how to score those rankings, I also calculated the results without this category. The winner did not change but, while the top 4 remained the same, the order did change. Again, Douthat was the winner either way.
Staunton River was the clear winner of the You Tube views. This was a tough category and the competitiveness of our folks was evident. To convert the views to a 25 point scale, as of noon on June 14, the cut off, the highest viewed video got 25 points and a percentage of the total views 2,397 for Staunton River was applied to get the other scores. For example, Douthat had 1,830 views which was .76 of the 2,397 and 25 x .76 is 19. That is how the points for that category were assigned. Because of the disparity in YouTube views, this category probably was more influential in the final totals.
