Fishing on Goodwin Lake at Twin Lakes State Park
Looking back on my childhood, I realized that some of fondest memories I have didn’t come from TV and video games, but from the afternoons I spent with my father out on the water fishing. I distinctly remember one day sitting there with my cheap Power Rangers fishing pole, probably annoying my dad more than I was fishing. Then all of a sudden my pole almost shot from my hands as my first fish was on the line. I fought that thing for what seemed like half an hour, several times I thought my pole was going to break. After what seemed like an eternity I pulled in what seemed to me was the biggest Bass I had ever seen. In reality it was probably only one or two pounds, but to me it was a giant. The best part was the ear to ear grin on my Dad’s face as he gleamed with pride over my catch. These days my catches seem far less dramatic, but every time I think I’ve got the big one my brain always wanders back to that first catch with my Dad.
