Grayson Highlands State Park is excited to welcome Julie Slater as our new volunteer interpreter!
Julie Slater is the new intern at Grayson Highlands State Park
Julie grew up in Russia but considers herself from University of Virginia, she studied Russian Studies and Studio Art. Later, she went back to Russia to teach English for two years.
She is interested in working in the environmental area and chose the park system as a way to explore opportunities within the field. While at Grayson Highlands, she has been very helpful in presenting programs, developing flyers, and assisting in Resource Management projects.
Julie says her favorite experience at the park so far, was crawling around Sullivan Swamp through the rhododendron, cinnamon fern and sphagnum moss while the Northern Saw-whet Owl watched.
Thank you, Julie for your hard work and valuable service!
