The History Mobile is appealingto visitors of all ages, including young children.TheHistory Mobile willbe setupnearboat launch #1 bythe Marina Store onOctober 5-7, 2012. The exhibit will be openfor students, school groups, andscheduled field tripson Friday and open to all public on Saturday and Sundayfrom10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Civil War History Mobile details Virginia’s incomparable place in history throughout the 1860’s. The History Mobile shares a unique interactive experience, as visitors are invited to look into the lives of real people- young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians. Read letters and hear conversations from those looking to flee to freedom, watch a film that examines Virginia's decision to secede, then explore the impact of the War that ended slavery.
The Civil War History Mobile was designed through a partnership between the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission, the Virginia Historical Society, and the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania National Battlefields Park. The History Mobile is also supported by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and the Virginia Tourism Corporation.Visitors can obtain information on visiting Virginia Civil War sites at the exhibit.
