Come on down to Wilderness Road State Park on Saturday March 17, 2012 for a spring bike ride down the Wilderness Road Trail!
You can enjoy the beautiful spring weather along the four mile bike ride in the crisp air. Bring your own bikes, and helmets are required. The bike ride will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The park does offer a limited amount of bikes for those who do not own one. Be sure to bring a light snack and bottle of water. There will be breaks along the way to stop, rest and view nature’s beauty for those who wish too. As part of Virginia State Parks ingredients for a healthy lifestyle bicycling is a great activity to burn tons of calories and boost your metabolism.

Besides getting all those wonderful health benefits you get to experience nature coming into bloom, with the colorful array of blooming maples, and leafing yellow poplars and weeping willows. There also lies an opportunity for a glimpse of a cottontail scampering about or maybe even a white-tailed deer gnawing on the buds of paw paws! Perched on a limb you may even spot a male American Goldfinch as he molts in his cheerful bright yellow color and distinctive black cap. Along with all these wonderful sights you may even hear the cry of a mocking bird or happy song of a chickadee to bring in the spring season.
I’m excited about a fun day in the spring weather biking down the trail! I look forward to seeing you there.
Registration is required, especially for those who do not own a bike because bikes are limited so get one while you can! The event is free but parking fees do apply. The bikes offered by the park are free of charge for the program that day. All ages are welcome! To register, please contact the park at (276) 445-3065 or e-mail us at [email protected].
