Between October 9 and 11 over fifty State Park employees, their families, volunteers and friends gathered at Kiptopeke State Park for the 10th Annual Benevolence Fund Family Fishing Tournament. A wide variety of fish were caught by young and old, with several nice flounder taken home for dinner.
Marci Holland, who came all the way from Grayson Highlands SP, enjoys the seafood dinner
The festivities kicked off Sunday night with a scrumptious seafood dinner enjoyed by all. The weather was perfect, fishing at times slow but relaxing and seeing colleagues and friends PRICELESS!
At the conclusion of the tournament on Tuesday, a picnic was held with awards handed out, which was then followed by the drawings for raffle prizes.
Award recipients came in all sizes
The Tournament and Raffle are the main fundraising tool for the Benevolence Fund which helps Virginia State Park employees in need. We raised about $5,000 thanks to all who came out to the tournament, bought raffle tickets, and made or donated prizes for the raffle. Thanks to the Tournament Committee members who year in and year out give of their time and resources to make this happen!
You can see how much fun everyone had in this slide show of pictures taken at the event.
