Virginia State Parks is asking for our customers’ input on possible changes to swimming operations at our lakefront parks. The request for input revolves around lakefront swimming and whether changing to unguarded, i.e. No Lifeguards, is practical in designated areas.Your answers will help parks management evaluate our customers' needs.
For the purposes of this survey, unguarded means that swimming would be allowed at your own risk and there would be no lifeguards. There would also not be a swimming fee like we have now at our guarded beaches. Unguarded swimming would also mean the removal of dive platforms and deep water swimming with the swimming area limited to an approximate 5 foot depth. Guarded swimming is what we offer now for a fee between Memorial Day and Labor Day for limited hours.
This survey does not apply to any of our swimming pools and there is no plan to make changes in the swimming policy for pools.
Please take the survey here(one survey allowed per computer) before 10 p.m. EDT on Monday, September 1, 2014. Thank you for your help.
