Students Plant Trees at Shenandoah River

Warren County Middle School, seventh grade students, plant trees at Shenandoah River.

This spring, Odwalla Foundation to plant trees in our park. Two science teachers from Warren County Middle School, Dasha Sealock and Katie Gizzi, volunteered to bring a group of students to the park to help plant several trees. Nine trees, including two Red Oaks, one Serviceberry, three White Dogwoods and three Redbuds, would be planted near the newRV campground.

The students did a fantastic job and had a lot of fun digging holes, working together andplanting and wateringthe trees. Some students even gave their tree a name!

The teachers encouraged the children to come and visit the trees in future years to see how they have grown. We discussed why trees are so important, especially near the riverbanks of the park. The kids were very proud of their work and the fact that they were making a positive impact on the environment.
