My Dad used to always say two things "Get out of dodge" and "get a change of scenery." Now that he has left the rat race of the city and retired here in these Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, he has different favorite sayings that we hear, often.
But as a kid, that change of scenery-thing used to perplex me. Now that I am married and have a family of my own, working, living, busy, stressed, it all makes sense to me. Some days the daily grind is just that, a real grind, on your nerves, on your feelings and emotions, and even on your heatth! Every once in a while it does a body good to get out of dodge, to enjoy a change of scenery.
When I first began visiting Virginia State Parks that I love, I hope it helps you plan your next getaway, even if it is for a midweek picnic, I hope you can get out of dodge soon! If you live near the shore head to the mountains, if you live in the Piedmont head to the beach…
