Meet Cabin 11 at Occoneechee State Park in Southside Virginia
She is a sought after cabin for a few key reasons of which I am about to divulge to you in this article. Forgive me park goers who adore this cabin and sing her praises in the cabin journal, but I must. I even shot a goofy video (read to the end to view it!)
Enjoy your morning cup from the porch with water views from Cabin 11
Pros
It is a universally accessiblecabin.
This means there is a nice ramp up from the parking area which is perfect for riding your bikes off or onto the porch. Perfect for hauling armloads of things in and out of the cabin as we are known to do! I think the beds may be a wee bit higher as well.
Cons
It is a universally accessiblecabin.
This means the fridge is lower, the counters are lower in the kitchen, there are no wall shelves or vanity in the bathroom (this is a big con) and only one set of bunks in the second bedroom. But there is a sofa bed in the living room! The picnic table cook out area is not ADA however, so if you cannot handle stairs you are best suited to enjoy the view from the porch (which is absolutely okay and in fact preferred by me!)

Grilling and chilling area outside cabin 11 (Tony grilled then we all went out for s'mores later)
Highlights of this cabin from my point of view
Location Location Location
This beautiful state park has the most amazing real estate as it is situated on the shores of John H Kerr Lake (aka Buggs Island Lake). This park is a boater and angler's paradise! But if you want water access without having to use a boat launch you are S.O.L.
This is where cabin 11 comes in
