Get Outdoors and Stay Overnight
Some of my favorite reminiscences are of over-night retreats with my college sororitysisters.As a college senior, I'm can already hear the echoes oflaughter from each room, stories being told, and memories being made by the next generation of college Greeks. I know that finding a location to accommodate an entire organization can be a little tricky, and sometimes expensive. Virginia State Parks offers three greatrelatively low-cost ways you can enjoy an outdoor overnight retreat with your college Greekorganization.
Most parks have a variety of cabin styles from rustic 1933 Civilian Conservation Corps era timber cabins to modern spacious 2010 era cabins.
Camping – Most college recreation centers offer outdoor equipment rentals. Rent a few large tents, grab the smores, and enjoy a night of fun and good times! Most Virginia State Parkcampgrounds have group sites so that you can fall asleep under the stars together. Be sure to check the weather and make sure everyone has the right weather-related gear and clothes.
Group camping sites like this mean that you can camp near your friends during your organization's retreat. Don't forget your bike! Most student recreation centers have bike rentals.

Lodges – Do you have a large chapter? The largestcabins are three bedrooms that can sleep six to eight. But the Virginia State ParkCustomer Service Center to make your reservation. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance.
Be respectful and mindful of the Virginia State Park policies onkeeping the cabin and camping areas clean, damage fees, and alcohol policies. Better yet, plan to have a low-key alcohol free overnight retreat and get to know your fraternity brothers and sorority sisters against the backdrop of the peaceful great outdoors.
