BEFORE YOU BAIT THAT HOOK—GET YOUR REGISTRATION NUMBER!
Registration with the Virginia Fisherman Identification Program is REQUIRED for anglers age 16 and older who are exempt under state law from having to buy a saltwater fishing license (such as those who fish on a boat licensed to cover all anglers; from a commercial pier or private property; or who are age 65 and older).

Failing to register and/or failing toproduce your registration number for the current year, when requested, isa Class 3 Misdemeanor under Code of Virginia 28.2-302.1:1. Youcould be issued a ticket by VMRC law enforcement who patrol fishing piers and salt water fisheries.
This registration requirement applies to individuals who are fishing on the pier at Kiptopeke State Park. We do not want you to get a ticket so please register today and keep your registration number with you, while fishing,at all times!! A good idea is to write your registration number on your tackle box.
