Create your own custom feed widget in 6 easy steps from the Virginia State Parks!

The widget is a great tool to add outdoor recreation and events and state park info to your website or blog! It can be found on the left side bar of the Virginia Outdoors website and titled "Add Our Articles To Your Website"

You should see the Widget on the left of the image above on this very website!

To create this widget all you need to do is select the fields you are interested in.

Let's start at the top with step by step instructions:

1) Select the outdoor activities you're interested in for your widget (choose form the following):

Hiking Biking Horseback Riding Camping Boating and Water Sports Fishing Hunting Swimming Picnicking Winter Activities Wildlife Activities Photography Gifts and Shopping Educational Outdoor Activities Canoeing And Kayaking Cabins and Lodges

2) Select the Virginia outdoor destinations you're interested in:

3) Your widget should include content items which match:

ANY of the activities/destination checked above

or

ALL of the activities/destination checked above

4) Specify the dimensions of your widget (you can customize this for your website or blog):

Width 400 px

Height 300 px

5) Select the desired content item formatting for your widget:

Show titles, thumbnails and summaries

Show titles only

Show titles and summaries

6) Finally click on Generate Widget Embed Code (this will give you the html code to cut n paste onto your website or blog):

Go to BRFAL.BLOGSPOT.COM to view an example of this widget live – see the right side bar "Virginia State Parks SML & Fairystone" as I only selected the parks in our area and general information. The custom widget size is 200 W x 300 H

The best advice is to "Just do it!" The instructions make it seem harder than it really is!
