The Friends of Shenandoah River State Park (FoSRSP) actively participates in the Virginia State Parks mission to conserve natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources of the commonwealth and to provide recreational and educational opportunities consistent with good stewardship of these lands, water and facilities that leaves them unimpaired for future generations. You too can become involved.
You can earn benefits for your volunteer work. For example, you can earn free passes, free camping, and free cabin use at all Virginia State Parks. The ultimate benefit you can earn is a lifetime entrance pass to all Virginia State Parks along with the satisfaction of contributing to a great local resource.
Named for the river it boarders, Shenandoah River State Park is one of Northern Virginia’s most serene parks. With over 5 miles of river front and nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River State Park is truly a gem. The rolling, mountainous land features steep slopes and is mostly wooded. In addition to meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic vistas overlooking Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. The park offers cabins, a 6 bedroom lodge, campgrounds, 13 miles of multi-use trails, a brand new visitor center, environmental education programs, picnic shelters, and close proximity to Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns.
Opportunities will continue to arise to support the park in a variety of ways. One of those ways is through the Friends group. Friends groups are non-profit organizations that are formed to support a local park through volunteerism, advocacy and fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in becoming involved with Friends of Shenandoah River State Park, please call or e-mail and ask for information on joining and annual membership dues/donations. Dues and Donations are Tax Deductible.
