Spring is right around the corner and many of you may be thinking about going outside and getting some exercise for the new year.Whether it is bike riding, jogging, or just taking walks, Virginia State Parks offer beautiful trails to entice even the idlest of us.
Not only can you get your exercise, you will have many sights to see along the way.Trails in Virginia offer abundant wildlife and it is not uncommon to see deer, birds, squirrels, opossums, or any other assortment of native animals. Not to mention you have the added benefit of not dealing with passing motorists and some of the other obstacles you may encounter on public roads.Taking the trails during the fall is a sight to behold. With the leaf changes, you may find it hard to not bring your camera along for the ride.
Parks usually have an assortment of trail types. Some are mostly flat and easy to trek while others are longer and more difficult with hills and uneven terrain.Personally I like to take my mountain bike on the more difficult trails.Running would probably be easier on the flatter trails, but to each their own.
I still remember the first time I took my bike to Pocahontas State Park.I couldn’t have been more than ten years old.The fall scenery was breathtaking and I even got to see a herd of deer.Ironically, I think I was more shocked to see the deer than they were to see me.Those memories are still very much with me today and more are created with each visit to a park.I cannot say the same about going on bike rides through neighborhoods.
With our busy lives and technology, we seem to have to plan times to get together as a family.Trekking Virginia hiking trails is a good way to spend some time together. You can take in the sights, teach you children about nature, and even get some exercise along the way.Not to mention, you will create memories that will last a lifetime.
