I have to confess – I hate shopping and I hate holiday shopping in particular. If you generally don’t like wandering around stores trying to find the best deals, I can guarantee you it is a million times less fun when you have to park a mile away from the store that is jammed packed with folks that don’t particularly seem in the Christmas spirit.
So, I have really embraced cyber shopping with wild abandon!Interestingly enough I heard a report that folks are more likely to buy impulse things over the web than in person, but I digress.
If you are a shopping hater like me, or have folks on your gift list that love Virginia State Parks, we have cyber options for you!
If the recipient loves visiting parks for the day, consider the gift of a parking pass. We have one park only passes for as little as $36 ($22 for seniors) or our Plus pass good for parking at all of our parks and some discounts for $61 ($33 for seniors). These passes are really family gifts since a whole carload gets to visit a park with the pass! Just call 800-933-7275 to order the pass. We need the recipient’s address for our records but will be happy to send the pass to you for gift giving. As it gets closer to Christmas, we can just give you a certificate to give your recipient that they can redeem for a pass. In addition to the general parking pass, we have passes for boat launching and equestrian users.
Speaking of gift certificates, we can set up a gift certificate good toward over night stays or facility rentals. You present the gift certificate and your recipient simply has to call us to redeem. This is a great present since you can select the amount you can afford and they can apply that to the cost of whatever they want to rent.
Finally, if you love our state park gift shops, you will love our online store! Shop from the comfort of home and have your packages delivered via UPS.
For passes and gift certificates, call our reservation center at 800-933-7275. The Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
One more idea – if you like shopping but want a break from the crowds, head out to your local Virginia State Park and go shopping in their gift shop or merchandise area. There are lots of sales this time of year. A day in the solitude of a park is just what you need to escape the pressure of the holidays!
