You can contact the park to sign up either day. Both will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will start out at Shelter # 1 for a brief presentation on the history of Virginia's gold rush.
Canoeing at Holliday Lake
We will then canoe across the lake and up Holliday Creek to the Jones Family gold site for some hands-on gold panning. We will get out of our canoes and pan for gold in the creek. Cost is $6.00 per person and includes the use of the canoes and all the special tools necessary.
Please note: each participant MUST be able to canoe about one mile and hike a short distance to get to the gold panning site. Gold panning is not for the faint-of-heart!
