After 2009’s incredible success with the Tree Planting Campaign, where we raised nearly $24,000 to buy trees to plant in our parks, this year’s $7,000 is disappointing. Odwalla is donating $200,000 this year as opposed to last year’s $100,000 but still we have fallen short. The fact that all 50 states participated this year instead of last year’s handful may be the reason, but with more than 7 million visitors, I still think we can do better than 7,000 votes, especially when you get to vote at least 5 times!
Fortunately, we still have some time left. While the general voting is over, there is still the opportunity to vote to plant 5 trees using our special code which is VA1000.
All you have to do is to click here to get to the voting site, enter your Facebook login OR any email address. They only ask for this information to make sure you are a real person and not a bot or someone with nothing better to do than vote over and over all day. You just have to login that one time to plant up to 5 trees. If you had already voted with the code once, you get 4 more votes. You can vote for every email address you have.
We have until the end of the year to claim the nearly $20,000 in tree money left on the $200,000 Odwalla donation. Won’t you help us get close to last year’s trees? In addition to voting yourself, let your friends know, suggest a project to your kids’ school, get civic organizations involved. It only takes a few minutes to vote but these trees mean a lot to our state parks!
