I wanted to let you know as this fantastic lakeside restaurant fills up fast for Mothers' Day, which is the most popular day of the year to take Mom out to eat! Since reservations are required you may want to read on to learn more about it:
RESTAURANT
Be sure to enjoy an original CCC facility, the park's full-service, park-operated The Restaurant. Hours vary seasonally. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the dining room is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and for Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In April, May (before Memorial Day) and September, the dining room is open Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. and for Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mothers' Day Sunday is a special time with a brunch by reservation only – seating times are 11:00 a.m., 12:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. space is limited so if you want to take Mom out for this fabulous time and delicious meal at Hungry Mother Restaurant call (276) 781-7425 to book your spot!
It's available for parties and catering year-round even when the dining room is closed. As with all state park facilities, circumstances may require deviation from this schedule so please call (276) 781-7425 first.
FAMILY FUN WITH MOM
The park is 3,334 acres and the lake is 108 acres. If the weather is nice you can take Mom out for aMolly's Knob Trail for the spectacular views!
OVERNIGHT
If you want to whisk Mom away for the entire weekend and stay at a cabin or camping at click here to learn about overnight accommodations (cabins and camping).
If you stay overnight, then it is still up to you to cook Mom a home-made hot breakfast over the campfire, Coleman stove or park cabin range, then take her to the brunch later. You can also call the reservation center at (800) 933-PARK Monday through Friday 9:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. for availability or reservations.
LOCATION
Hungry Mother State Park is in Smyth County Virginia. To get to the park, take Exit 47 from Interstate 81. Travel approximately one mile on Route 11 toward Marion. Turn right on Route 16 north and travel four miles to the park. The park's address is 2854 Park Blvd., Marion, Virginia. 24354
