Remember that Mungo Jerry catchy tune called “In the Summertime?” My favoritie, lyrics:
We’re always happy,
Long’s we’re living in this sound philosophy.
And, in Virginia State Parks, Memorial Day weekend is the start of our summer season. Celebrate the official start of summer (even if it technically doesn’t start until June 21) with a trip to the closest Virginia State Park this weekend.
All of our swimming beaches and pools open up Saturday. Many folks are giving up vacations this year because of the economy, but a family trip to a Virginia State Park is a fun alternative. Bring a picnic or enjoy food from our snackbar, participate in one of the many programs offered, go swimming, take a rental boat out for a spin, take a walk or a hike. The weather forecast is good (except for possible pesty thunderstorms). So come out and enjoy.
Be sure and searchable web page and check by park and date. If your park isn’t listed, give them a call and they will tell you what’s going on.
