Swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, boating, picnicking, s'moring, laughing…our vacation had it all at Douthat State Park, so it was not easy leaving…
Leaving wasn't easy at Douthat State Park – I'll be thinking about you!
Each year our family takes a one week vacation to a Virginia State Park where we stay in a cabin or lodge, and every year the anticipation just about kills us until we finally arrive and see the state park sign at the entrance. Even our dog pops her head up in excitement and lets out a yelp as we make the turn into the park.
But harder than finding the patience and wherewithal to wait until we get there, at last, is the jaw aching sadness we have when we are forced to leave and go back home, to reality, to work and our lives waiting for us outside of the vacation of most awesomeness. If you are like our family, after making a whole slew of fond memories and feeling like we were on top of the world and just getting warmed up, it hits you like a brick when it is time to pack up the truck and head back home.
That feeling is what this video is about…
