What do you give to a woman who has given you everything? Why not give her the gift of time spent together?
Natural Tunnel State Park is giving the perfect opportunity. On Saturday, May 7, 2011, the park will host “Mother and Me Day.” The featured activity of the day is creating your own blue bird box. The program will be held in shelter #5 from 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. There is a cost of $5 per box. Pre-registration is required by calling Megan France at (276) 940-1643 or emailing at [email protected].
After spending the morning making the bird box, you can spend the afternoon enjoying the park. Natural Tunnel State Park has seven walking trails. The longest is 2.1 miles long. The trails lead to unique features of the park: the tunnel floor, Lover’s Leap, Tunnel Hill and Gorge Ridge. A 500-foot boardwalk and observation deck provide accessibility to guests with disabilities who may ride the chairlift, when operable, to the mouth of the tunnel. Most trails are open to mountain bikes. For a map and details of Natural Tunnel State Park trails, click here.
So, instead of stressing out about what to give your mother this Mother’s Day, come on out to Natural Tunnel State Park. It’s the natural choice.
