"We have seen the stars so often, we don't bother to look anymore. We have grown accustomed to our blessings on this earth." Warren Wiersbe
Rain can create works of art, if we are willing to look for them
I saw this quote on my Facebook page this morning and I was struck with guilt. I can reason with myself that it has been raining for days. My feet are cold and wet and muddy paw prints are scattered on my back porch. What good could be outside in the rain?
People are suffering with stress related problems more than ever. We are so concerned about jobs, bills, and the future that we are ignoring the best things Virginia has to offer. Virginia is overflowing with natural resources that are known to reduce stress and help bring emotions back into balance.
Have you ever just sat and watched or listened to nature? It’s breath-taking. The birds, which actually live outside where it is raining, are outside my window singing! And the human population, most of which have a roof over their heads, are grumbling to anyone who will listen.
Relax and rejuvenate at your favorite Virginia State Park
Rain can create works of art, if we are willing to look for them. Wildflowers in the field, spring waterfalls, a simple rain drop falling from a leaf; these are all works of natural art. In truth, rain can alter the plans we have made but it can be seen as a blessing.
We have to make that choice to look for the beauty. There is a Virginia State Park within an hour's drive of every town in the Commonwealth. Our parks work hard to maintain natural areas open to all Virginians to relax, rejuvenate, and recreate. There is no better way to experience nature than making memories with family and friends. We just have to decide to make that choice.
