Cleaning up the lake debris of winter storms and general rubbish. Tidying up our Virginia State Parks is always a stellar idea!
Lake Debris is not one of our state parks, but it is at many of our state parks!
Lake debris is an eyesore and hazard for us all
An easy solution to this rubbish – pick it up and get it off the shoreline or out of the water
This is a suggestion from our family to yours. If we all collected just a couple pieces of rubbish when we visited our Virginia State Parks, could you imagine the impact?
You can even enlist your kids, make it a treasure hunt to see who can find the most plastic water bottles or cigarrette butts! Along the shoreline of Lake Debris there is a plethora of interesting treasures to be found, from pieces of coolers, boats, fishing lurers and bobbins to whatsits. "Whatsits" are what I call anything I do not know what it is, and that, in fact becomes quite a fun family game trying to figure out what some small round unidentifiable object is!
In Virginia we are fortunate to have Virginia State Park near you if you live in this beautiful and diverse state.
Go outside and play, bring an extra bag along to collect rubbish, or if you pack a picnic lunch, use that when you are done to haul away a little bit left behind from the last storm or camper. Use the receptacles available to you in the park to dispose of the rubbish. If you love our Virginia State Parks, then you will love them even more when they are tidy and hazard free for the kids to run and have fun!
JUST SAY NO TO RUBBISH!
