OpSail at Norfolk Virginia June 2012
Tall Ships are coming to Norfolk, Virginia! Over 20 ships from countries around the world have been invited to Norfolk’s waterfront for this spectacular event. Operation Sail, Inc. (OpSail) and the U.S. Navy will commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the birth of The Star-Spangled Banner in conjunction with Norfolk’s annual Harborfest.
Wednesday, June 6th – Military Parade of Sails – Navy War Ship / Grey Hulls
Friday, June 8th – Spirit of Norfolk or Victory Rover Parade of Sails Lunch Cruise
Saturday, June 9th thru Sunday June 10th – International Tall Ship Visits, Wisconsin / Nauticus Dinner and Fireworks, Spirit of Norfolk Firework Dinner cruise

I am sharing this information with you so you can get a jump start and book your accommodations at First Landing State Park and saw that there are plenty of cabins and campspots available (at the time of writing this article) for these dates!

I hope you can to attend these festivities in Norfolk. I cannot even imagine being on the beach at First Landing State Park as these ships roll into the Chesapeake Bay! WOW!
