Virginia’s 4 pm burning law went into effect February 15. It’s always important to be fire-wise, but especially during the Spring. You can find out more specific information on the Virginia Department of Foresty website.
Basically, campfires are allowed only in the campsite fire pit, and only between 4:00 pm and midnight. Keep in mind that charcoal should be used in the same way as an open campfire. You can use your camp stove any time of the day. If you camp in Virginia State Parks, please be aware of and follow all the laws regarding campfires. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any park staff member. You may want to call ahead.
Following ALLrules and regulations in Virginia State Parks makes your stay (and everyone else’s) more enjoyable and fun!
