Those were the words my husband spoke recently. No he was not speaking of me; he was standing on the new marina at Occoneechee State Park. He was referring to the marina, the construction, the layout and the overall visual beauty of the structure.

Now been the proud ex-owners of a boat, a dive boat really, in the Puget Sound, it brought back memories as we walked out on this new marina on John H Kerr Reservoir (also known as Buggs Island Lake). There really is something special about being out on the water, or even being around the water. Many studies have been done about the tides, humans being made up primarily of water, and so on. But no matter who you are, you have to agree brightly covered boats sitting in the water are eye candy!

51 Total Marina Slips, all with water and electric service

• 6 transient slips for campers and cabin guests (one universally accessible)

• 24 twenty-foot slips with 20-amp electric service (two universally accessible)

• 18 thirty-foot slips with 20-amp electric service

• 3 thirty-foot slips with dual 20 and 30-amp electric service

Marina Rates

Transient Slips: $18 per night

20’ w/water and 20-amp elect. $1,200 per year

30’ w/water and 20-amp elect. $1,600 per year

30’ w/water and dual 20/30amp elect.$1,750 per year

Sewage Pump-out $5 per usage

Annual Slip Rentals

• The park will accept applications for annual rentals through February 15 of each year.

• Applications available at the park or a PDF here

• Rental period will be March 1 to last day of February of each year.

• Applicants will be selected by random drawing for each type of slip

• Renters for year 1 will be guaranteed one renewal year (2 years total). The park willdecide if additional rental renewals will be available based on public demand for slips.

• Pro-rated and monthly fees available for slips not rented on a annual basis.
