This is the third in my series of introducing our virtual souvenirs for #TravelTuesday
When you think of Virginia State Parks you probably think about beautiful scenery and affordable outdoor recreation. But our mission is also to preserve the culture of Virginia. We are steeped in history in Virginia and our parks interpret that history for Virginians – from Virginia’s native peoples, to the first English settlers of the Jamestown Company, to outposts on the way to explore the west, to Revolutionary and Civil War sites.
Weaving through all that history is music.
Our parks feature special programming that includes musical artists. Grayson Highlands State Park offers the annual Wayne Henderson Music Festival, Southwestern Virginia Museum offers the Gathering in the Gap, and Natural Tunnel State Park has the Papa Joe Smiddy Mountain Music Festival, just to name a few. Our southwestern Virginia parks are great bases for visiting the many sites on click here. If you also manage a Facebook page, be sure you are using Facebook as your profile in order to send a souvenir to one of your Facebook friends.
