Volunteerism is one of the areas that falls under my Operations Section and we are blessed with committed and talented Claytor Lake State Park who has taken his loving for biking and transformed it into a great program for our visitors: Tour de Claytor Lake!
Camp host Jim Zahn has been has been doing this Saturday program since August 21 and will continue it through the end of October. Jim leads families on a bike ride throughout the park, pointing out all of the park’s features and amenities. Jim always pulls a small cart behind his bike that says K-9 unit and has his small dog riding along with him. As you can see from the pictures, he has American Flags attached to his cart as well. During the bike tour, Jim speaks about safety, the history of the park, and upcoming events.
Through September Jim has done 8 tours with 86 people participating. Call the park at (540) 643-2500 for more information on the program and times. To book a campsite or cabin at click here for specific information on our Camp and Park Host program.
