This is the third part in this series where I actually name names! By that I mean I am sharing a specific cabin at a specific park. As I mentioned inClaytor Lake and plans to stay there again next year!
Wait for the end of this article where you cancheck availabilityand plan your next getaway to this awesome state park and get outside and get some of this fresh mountain air!
Cabin #13 is a 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin at Claytor Lake State Park. Like all the cabins there, it is waterfront/waterview. There is a dock specifically for this cabin and the three lodges. These are newer structures, whereas the 2 bedroom cabins, which are very nice, are the older style with the screened-in/enclosed porches and smaller kitchens. The same amenities apply, but not as modern as the 3 bedroom cabin and the lodges.
Fully accessible ramp and porch, picnic table, grill and fire pit for s'mores
Plenty of parking, recycling bin and trash receptacles
Large eat-in kitchen with modern conveniences (except dishwasher, you have kids for that!)
Fireplace, view windows and plenty of seating
Queen bed facing the water, 2 singles, and a bunk-room with 4 bunks
Dogs allowed in the cabins for a daily fee
The dock for this cabin and the lodges is just a few hundred feet from the porch
HINT: You can book any VSP cabin up to 11 months in advance, cabin stay must be prepaid.
HINT #2: You can rent a boat and cruise the lake and use this dock to tie-up and come in for lunch!
Cabins at Claytor Lake State Park are open year-round, they are a ton of fun in the off season, play board games, charades, have inside fun and then hike and bike the trails!
