Cabin 4 has plenty of inside and outside space and it lake front
Cabin 4 is a 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin with waterviews at Occoneechee State Park, which is located on the John H Kerr Reservoir, also called Buggs Island Lake.
ABOUT
Providing 24-hour access Virginia’s largest lake, three boat ramps open the door to 48,000 acres of fishing, boating and aquatic recreation. Eighty eight campsites are available for tent and RV campers. Some sites are right on the shoreline, providing easy fishing and boating access. The park also has 13 cabins that allow guests to enjoy the comforts of home as well as beautiful views of the lake. An equestrian campground with 11 sites and 11 covered horse stalls offers easy access to the park’s trail system. Occoneechee also has picnic areas near the lake, a playground, boat rentals and a lakefront amphitheater.

- 3 bedroom 2 bath – the extra bathroom was like GOLD to our family
- Waterfront/View but no access
- Very private
- Tons of parking – all cabins at this park has XL parking for boats and trailers
- 3 Bedrooms: 1 queen bed,2 twins – with lake view,2 sets of bunk beds
- Large windows with plenty of light
- Wooded location: watch the fireflies outside your windows at night (nature’s neon)
- Wood burning fireplace
- Picnic table and grill (no fire ring)
- Large porch with rocking chairs and side tables (partially covered)
- ADA shower/Kitchen
- Tub/shower combo (great if you have kids who need a bath vs a stand up shower)
- This park is awesome for water sports/boating/tubing/fishing – no swimming beach. At full pond no beach at all. A great place for kids to skateboard and ride bikes around the cabin area and campgrounds. There is a playground near the Discovery center.
If you are looking for tons of events/kids to play with and beach time, this is not the park for you.
If you are looking for a beautiful place to paddle, catch a creel full of crappie, or watch the sun setting over the lake, this is the place for you!
Cabin 4 at Occoneechee State Park is very private and comfortable and has a waterview
From cabin 4 you can walk to the water but there is much debris such as driftwood, so there is not safe water access from this cabin (or place to tie up your boat near the shore)
Cabin 4 picnic table and grill area is very private and just off the deck
Plenty of parking and has a ramp up to the porch for access
Paved roads around the cabin area and park make for great bike riding for the family!
That is cabin one in the background which is across from our cabin 4
If you are creative you will find a swimmin' hole!
This is our little inlet – cabin 4 is all the way to the right
A great place to paddle!

Hint #1:There is a Dollar General Store in the little town of Clarksville a couple miles from the park, that has a fresh fruit stand in the parking lot. You can get charcoal, milk, crossword books, and other odds and ends at the DG.
Hint #2:There is a McDonalds with free WIFI in Clarksville just over the bridge. Also there is a Pizza joint with Free WIFI. You can park and walk around town, and visit some of the cute little eclectic shops.
Hint #3:I would recommend OC cabins in any season, when the vacationers have all gone home, light the fireplace, set the table for two and have a special romantic getaway. Consider the leaves falling, and the view increasing outside the cabin.
Our kids are teenagers now, and as we drove home I asked them how this cabin and park compare to some of our other favorites, like Claytor Lake State Park? The answers were:
a) The lack of a swimming beach was something, but not a huge negative for them since they aren’t little tikes anymore. Being able to get in the water here was still fun and refreshing. It is not recommended, but it is not restricted either. So using caution is advised.
b) The privacy of this cabin was extra good, with our deck looking off to the lake and people not walking past or gawking.
