This is the second in a series of historical vignettes about Virginia State Parks in honor of our 75th anniversary this year!
The Fairy Stone State Park in Oct. 1933. They were in Company 1260 from Yellowstone. Another group of young men came from Camp Dix, now Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Below is a photograph of early arrivals in Bassett, Virginia to work on Fairy Stone State Park. The park was built on land donated by Junius Fishburn, publisher of The Roanoke Times.
