The Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team will release “Snuffleupagus,” a rescued harp seal on Tuesday, March 31st at 1:30pm at First Landing State Park.
Snuffleupagus was found washed up in Sandbridge with a broken jaw. Having been rehabilitated at the Virginia Aquarium and outfitted with a special transmitter, he will head out to sea and back into the wild this afternoon.
Parking fee is $4. Please park at the Chesapeake Bay Center and cross over to the Bay using the main boardwalk. Cameras are welcome, but please keep your distance and be respectful of Aquarium and park staff as they try to make Snuffleupagus’ transition back to the wild as easy as possible.
