Taskinas view
Begin your journey toward the left side of the center to see the Taskinas Creek Overlook. The overlook was built by a local Boy Scout troop and offers a terrific view of the entire creek valley. Bluebirds aren't the only ones flying around here
Keep straight behind the building to enjoy the view from the gazebo. From there, you will see the confluence of Taskinas Creek and the York River. This is a great place to watch paddlers on their adventures and Bald Eagles will perch in the dead tree on the other side of the creek. When not in use, feel free to have a little picnic on the amphitheater. You may also opt to follow the pavement down to the canoe and kayak dock, or just enjoy the flowers along the native plant arboretum.
Landing home
The loop's namesake has a home directly behind the center. The charming bluebirds are accustomed to people. But, forbetter viewing, you may want to avoid the bench. Just a little ways beyond thebluebird box, anosprey nesting platformstandsnearenough to the riverbank to photograph these great birds with a point-and-shoot camera with a modest zoom lens.
From here you can complete the loop around the building, or cut through the visitor's center.
