On Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 an otter made an appearance on Douthat State Park’s lake. The otter looks as if he’s sunbathing in several of the photos on the frozen lake, but unfortunately the sun was a rare sight today at the park.
Several Douthat State Park staff spotted the otter and took the opportunity to snap a few photos, and the otter seemed to cooperate in several pictures, buthe wasvery sneaky for the most part. He was quite aware of the fact staff was taking his picture and dove into the lake teasing. It reminds meof a child playing hide and seek.
After loading back into the vehicles the otter reappeared on the lake and continued to “sunbathe.” The question arose, “Howis theotter not falling through the ice where he’s laying?” For some reason he stayed safely on top of the ice.
