In case you have missed it, we have a fantastic new Facebook app that lets you send Virginia State Park postcards to your Facebook fans. I'm writing a post each week featuring one of the ten postcards.
This week's post card is a view of Douthat Lake. Okay, so I like really scenic places with benches (you may be recalling another postcard I featured a couple of weeks ago). This is a wonderful spot to catch some sun and watch the folks enjoying the lake.
People have been enjoying outdoor recreation at Douthat State Park for nearly 75 years. The Civilian Conservation Corps created this lake as the hub of the park which remains one of our most popular parks. Douthat features camping, cabins, hiking trails, and every water activity you can think of.
This Saturday, April 2, the park celebrates "opening weekend." Okay, the park is there and even open year round and camping open last month, but the first Saturday in April means that the lake is freshly stocked with trout and ready for fishing! I can tell you that the lake will not look this peaceful this weekend!
It's easy to send this postcard of Douthat State Park or any of the nine others to a Facebook friend. Simply click here or look on the left side of the page under the picture and click on Send Postcards. You will be able to type of friend's name, select a postcard, and send it in less than a minute!
Better yet, plan a trip to Douthat State Park or any of our other state parks. Select a park that features what you like to do by using our amenity search tool. Find a program or event to participate in using our events database – you can search by date, park and/or type of activity. Or make a reservation for camping or cabins by calling our information and reservation line at 800 933 7275 or by clicking here to book on line.
