Has your everyday life of work, family, and the economy got your insides twisted into knots? Then here is a relaxing, family-oriented, and economic way to get outside on a unique adventure that’s close to home.
This summer, Virginia State Parks will offer evening and after dark canoe tours at several locations around the state including False Camp, Lake Anna, York River, Pocahontas, Staunton River and Bear River State Parks. Tours are conducted by Park staff and include canoeing lessons followed by a paddle on the park’s river, pond, or lake, depending on which site you visit. Participants will learn about wild creatures of the evening, history, hear stories and legends, and enjoy the night sounds. No equipment or experience is necessary, and multiple trip dates are available to fit any schedule.
All canoes, paddles, and life jackets are provided, although children under five should bring their own life preserver. Children must be accompanied by an adult. To keep yourself comfortable, it is advisable to bring bug repellant and a bottle of water, and flashlight.
Space is limited, but multiple tours are planned throughout the summer in each park. For more information and available dates, and to make a reservation, just give the park of your choice a phone call. (link to park information)
Enjoy the evening, and leave the stresses of your life in the dark!
