Bear Creek Lake State Park will hold a dedication of the renovated archery range on Saturday, September 18th from 10 am to 1 pm. Fun activities for the entire family are planned. Admission is FREE. A $3 parking fee applies.
The renovations and relocation of the range was made possible by efforts of park staff, the Youth Conservation Corps. This summer the YCC crew and park staff worked hard at relocating the range, installing a parking lot and building target shelters. The Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park will be operating the 3D range with ten shooting lanes.
The range design and layout is representative of ranges developed by the National Rifle Association and the International Bowhunting Organization. The ten-lane range is a combination of excelsior bales and 3D targets.
Fees for the range are $3 for children ages 3-12 and $5 for children 13 and over and adults. A per car parking fee of $2 on a weekday and $3 on the weekends applies. Campers and cabin guest are FREE. The archery range is open October through April from 8 am to 4 pm and May through September 7 am to 8 pm.
